Holy Bible of Paraphilia - New Testament
2017 - 2020
Paraphilia means deviant or abnormal sexual behavior. People who are attracted to atypical objects, situations, fantasies, behaviors, or individuals fall into this category. It is debated whether paraphilias should be listed in diagnostic manuals, such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) or the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). Similarly, homosexuality was at one time discussed as a sexual deviation and now is widely accepted to be a normal variant of human sexuality as it has been removed from DSM-5.
This series scrutinizes paraphilia, a sexual taboo in Hungarian photography and culture, in context of its liminality between the normal and abnormal. It presents fantasies in a realistic way.
Following Anil Aggrawal’s groundbreaking studies of paraphilias, this photobook is a cyclopedic visual presentation of the subject.
